Sean's Shelf

About Me and my reading

Welcome, traveler of the information superhighway, to my low-key, probably even lower readership blog about the books I read.

At time of writing (that is June, 2026), I am 38 years of age, living in a quiet village in Worcestershire in the West Midlands of England with my wife and 2 kids. I grew up in the Welsh valleys with no eyesight but access to a local library, a flatbed scanner and eventually the Internet which all, in their own way, contributed to my love of great stories.

I began using Goodreads.com before leaving college in the summer of 2008. It let me catalogue each book as I read it and, as importantly for me, then get emails about new books by the authors I'd read. I've kept adding books to my Goodreads shelves ever since. Last week I added my 2,180th title.

I will continue to update my Goodreads profile for the time being. You can befriend me there for all the social stuff that entails or, if you're so inclined, you're of course welcome to the RSS Feed from Goodreads as well.

The purpose of this blog is to provide condensed, monthly updates based on the Goodreads data and anything I've read on top or around them. Fanfiction, for example, is rarely able to be stored on Goodreads, and of course logging book rereads is difficult there too. At the bottom of this page (and indeed any page herein) you'll find options to subscribe by email or RSS.

I may also, from time-to-time, feel the need to wax poetical on various literary topics, authors, series or whatnot. These will be infrequent and, presumably if you are the sort of person to follow my writing anyway, hopefully at least mildly interesting.

I daresay there'll be a few more pages here in due course. Until then, happy reading!
